i emailed the seller and asked where this thing was fitted, the response was that it connects to the head unit (so i guess you can go to any Audio specialist and have this installed.

If you can open it an take pictures of the insides, I can try to reverse engineer their components, guessing its just some kind of relay and fuse) and then possibly make a homemade version that could be used to do even more with the system.

Looking forward to hear your experiences.

RE: Movie hack

Ill open but I think it will be more.

This im sure is a CAN chip/module intercepting a speed signal no the bus and stopping the TV/NODE getting it. I use CAN logging equipement daily so I can make the needed traces to see the NODE address and how its working.

Ill keep you posted, and if I see that its a CAN based program on a MCU that I cant reproduce due to build cost and component location ill try and get us a deal on a bulk order if people are interested.

Install PDf attached. Reading it I think its the same as the D4. I have one in the office for the D4 so ill take a peep tomorrow.

RE: Movie hack

Well it works and that well, I have asked them for a price on 10 units to start with to sell from my site as a new product. I of course will offer some here for a few quid less than retail.

My car has the duel screen so i can swap from TV or DVD to the nav screen while the passenger still sees the TV and DVD. For cars with single view screen I would assume you will both see your desired output on the same screen.

Ill start a new thread with a Gruop buy if people are interested in any of the stock ive ordered, as part of the thread ill give English fitting instructions and advice as thelandrover PDF was not the exact same as my car.

Pete

PS I obviousley tested it on provate roads Smile

RE: Movie hack

I've seen that PDF, but my question on is how do you get to the back of the monitor, I can see how you open the head unit, does that mean we have to take the front off without damaging the dash?

RE: Movie hack

The head unit it's self does not need opening. All you do is remove 4 screws holding it in and it comes out giving access to the plugs at the rear. You only need to remove the main dash trim to get to the head unit which is a simple task.

All in all about a 30 min install.

Pete.

Slightly off topic but when you say main dash trim do you mean the strip of leather or such material that runs the full width of the dashboard at head unit height?

The reason I ask is I wanted that in leather but its not on a dynamic with verve (unless you go for dynamic plus) and I heard you can by that trim on its own so I did think if it was an easy job I would replace mine with a nice red leather one, so would you say it is an easy job to replace it?

Cheers
