RRE 2.2 Dynamic Plus ice road tested against Q3.........................have yet to read it all so will report back after my afternoon cuppa and a read. Interesting cars in the test Bentley Continental GT v Ferrari FF, Subaru WRX STi 320R v Audi RS3 Sportback, Defender 110 v Dacia Duster1.5 DCI and a Lambo Aventador v nothing and also the new Audi A1 Quattro!

Right RRE v Q3 in the depths of Sweden........................ a good match but the techy bits on the Evoque just are not even on the options list of the Q3. The interior of the Q3 is beautiful, until you look at the Evoque's which makes the Audi's look plain. Driving - in the Q3 the driver has to do all the hard work and have the sweaty palms on a slippery surface, in the Evoque you sit back and enjoy the drive and let the technology do all the hard work. In the Q3 you cannot switch off the TC/DSC completely and it will interfere but in the Evoque you can but it is a bit of a challenge due to it's tendency to understeer, but once you get the hang of it and turn off all the controls you can pirouette it all day long!

And the A1 Quatro? Incredible, but uncomfortable and it does cost £45000................ and only 24 of the 333 being built will come to the UK. So it'll be almost as rare as an Evoque!

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.

Just read it myself and it's not much of a write up, shame they didn't make it more testing instead of which car is nicer to drive. Plus TG should have reviewed the more popular 2.2 instead of the 2.0i, there was also a 10k price difference between the two cars.

I thought as the A1 has the VW Polo base, it couldn't be 4x4 ?

Audi Q3 Quattro : 208 bhp, 221 lb/ft, 1565 Kg, 0-62 in 6.9s and top speed 143.
Evoque Si4 Dyn : 240 bhp, 251 lb/ft, 1640 Kg, 0-62 in 7.6s and top speed 135.

Evoque has Reasonably more power and more torque, only a little more weight but slower in accel and top end so different gearing 6 speed not 7, and £12000 more...

but it has class... Cool

I like the review in 29th Feb's Autocar mag - that's the one with th convertable evoque on the front cover Smile
They compare a RRE eD4 (in mauritius blue by the way) with, get this:- a skids Superb 2.0 TDi estate, a Merxedes E220 CDi, a Golf GTD and a BMW 320d sport.

The Beemer comes out as first and the evoque second - they were trying to find the best car in the (real) world.

They put the Beemer as winner as it is more of a keen drivers car.

Ha, I haven't seen a bunch of drivers more keen than you lot! Smile

2017 Evoque SE Tech - Kaikoura Stone - > PREVIOUSLY - 5dr Pure Mauritius blue with panoramic roof, power tailgate.

Motorweek got 6.7 to 60 mph

Motor Trend got 7.0 to 60 mph

0-60 from 6.7 to 7.6 is a wide range. I guess it just depends on the time of day, angle of the sun, what I ate for lunch...Laughing
