Loan car during service

i always demand a Evoque. I didnt buy a Landrover so I dont want a crappy FL. Dealer always helps have much debate with the service desk staff!

Really doesn't worry me at all what the courtesy car is .... it's normally for one day only. Certainly don't have any concerns about being given a Freelander etc. Today my dealer is loaning me a demo RRS HSE while my car's in for some warranty work.

I couldn't care less if they gave me a push bike to be honest. I ain't stuck up and transport is transport at the end of the day

Mines due its first service next Thursday, so I will let you know what Stratstones in Newcastle have provided for me.

Not too fussed really, as long as it has enough fuel to get me around without having to fill it up the minute I leave the dealers.

You did buy a Land Rover, just because it says Range Rover on the front doesn't make it one. Also the evoque is reliant on Freelander parts. I've owned two Freelanders and Would recommend them to anyone.

Sorry I don't quite agree, but that's the joy of open free speech and forums like this.

So open minded xxxx5.................... actually you do drive a Land Rover, Range Rover is no longer a "brand" - Land Rover is the company that builds all Range Rover Evoques unless you have a very special build.

Well I was right - it was a Freelander, but not an old smelly one, but a brand new FL2 XS auto, with enough fuel in it for my modest needs. Seemed very nice too. Much better than previous FLs I've driven.
As far as the service went, it was ok. Cost £398.66, which I thought was a bit excessive for a first service, where everything is pretty much as new. My mileage is 7469.
They charged me
£3.29 for screen wash (when I'd filled it up myself a week ago.
£9.40 for an oil filter
£1.64 for a drain plug gasket
£81.20 for Castrol SLX C1 5W/30 3.0d oil
£15.80 for the pollen filter
£16.89 for the air filter
£204.00 for labour
all plus VAT

All the checks that were done were all in the green (tyres, brakes, smoke, noise, transmission, mirrors, locks, fluids, lighs, electics, etc. etc.

They valeted the car for me too, so it was nice and clean and shiny when I picked it up.

Bad news was they told me my next service on my Defender is going to cost £814. Shock horror.

Did they show you the qualifications of the technician that spent an hour and a half doing that work for £204+VAT !!!!

You should have refused to pay for the screenwash on principal!

I've spotted that there are a number of LR approved service agents that are not attached to main dealers so I'm going to see what they charge for a service. Those labour rates are a joke. Also we can all buy parts at 20% discount using our forum discount so why pay the dealers full price when it comes to a service?

Sounds like you are due a cambelt/ timing change Ant. Time to find a good independent service specialist?
Had my TDi300's belt done for the second time (after 7 years/ 120,000 miles, car has 79000 miles and is 16 years old) cost me less than £300 and took half a day for the TDi. My local indie has an almost production line of cam belt changes, 2-3 a week. The labour rate is what makes it so expensive at the main dealers, my Indie charges £35 a hour, local LR dealers £120/h............. no contest for an out of warranty car.
