Letter from Landrover about "EVOQUE ECO STOP/START UPDATE!

Excuse my ignorance, I purchased my Evoque last month, however I have no "stop start" feature. Am I correct in assuming this feature is when stationary, the engine will cut out and resume as soon as you accelerate?

Ah indeed. Seems strange they put it on the Manual and not the Auto?

More issues involved with automatic starting of an engine on an auto, its coming from most manufacturers now, but it's quite new as a mainstream idea.

Had a look on topix and mine needs the update, so does my parents, but there car seems to work no problem. Mines can only be described as non existent, no point me booking it in as my new car should be here in a fortnight. I assume that's why my dealer hasn't contacted me as it will get done before being sold.

is SD4 only don't have Start and Stop or only Automatic speed ?

Currently only available on manual. Yout will see comment on this on other recent threads.

Collected my car from LPR on Friday and it has had ths upgrade done even though it is an auto. The update includes the fix for the stop/start AND the fix for involuntary peeping of the alarm ( which mine was doing). I also had new door seals fitted under warranty - there is a noticeable reduction in wind noise from the doors now. The door seal problem only applied to the very earliest cars to come of the production line in August 2011.

I find my stop start is very intermittent and doesn't work at all when the car is cold.

The non-operation in cold weather is normal as the "smart" alternator inhibits high consumers until the engine is fully warmed up and the electrical load on the battery/alternator reduces to normal.
