Jaguar land Rover to build their own Engine factory
In best BBC tradition they have just predicted on the 5pm Sunday Radio4 news that tomorrow JLR will announce that they are to build their own engine making plant at Wolverhampton.

Apparently they have run out of 'S's for the SatNav so you can no longer visit Scunthorpe, Swindon etc etc. Actually, that could be a blessing in disguise!

Bit more info for anyone interested!!
"Today international automotive giant Jaguar Land Rover has announced it is coming to Staffordshire.
The prestige car maker has chosen Staffordshire as the location for a brand new manufacturing plant, and is bringing many of their suppliers along too, creating thousands of new jobs. This is fantastic news for Staffordshire’s prosperity and our economic champions have been right at the heart of the drive to convince this massively prestigious company to join the Staffordshire business community. JLR is moving onto the county council’s South Staffordshire i54 business park.
This announcement is the culmination of months of behind the scenes hard work by the county council's politicians and officers to persuade JLR to choose Staffordshire. And it’s a massive coup as the company could have chosen anywhere in the world. We beat off competition from hundreds of really top flight investment locations across the globe. This will mean thousands of high value, high tech jobs for people across the county and further opportunities with businesses supplying 'this state of the art' engine plant.
This is a massive vote of confidence in Staffordshire. We have given JLR the red carpet treatment. Together with Wolverhampton City Council, we creating a new junction onto the M54 making sure JLR are plugged straight into the national transport network.
What’s more the i54 South Staffordshire site has just been declared an Enterprise Zone by the Government and this will provide real tax advantages for the company.
The county council has already made a significant investment to support business growth in Staffordshire this year. And we have already had a string of big names announcing they are growing their business in Staffordshire. Just a few weeks ago Amazon set up their distribution business in Rugeley.
We will be doing everything we can now to encourage other hi-tech companies to follow JLR in profiting from our prime location, skilled workforce and business friendly partnerships. You can find out more about this announcement, and see a short video at
Look out too for advertising on motorway routes over the coming weeks and a series of roadshows celebrating this news in towns across the county.
Another great success for everyone involved, the county council overall and most importantly for Staffordshire people."
On order: Dynamic SD4 Manual Coupe, Orkney Grey, Black Roof, Privacy Glass, Vortex Int, Ebony Headlining.

It's slightly ironic that the Government has declared the car industry to be strategic to Britain's economic requirement but then proceeds to tax most of us off the road. It's a bit like after the war when anything was available for export which the local population suffered. Good news for Wolverhampton - to be honsest, if you've ever been there, it needed some.

It's good that Tata has the confidence to invest in the UK when they could have built the factory in India and manned it with local personnel at a fraction of the cost too. Thank goodness this didn't happen 3 years ago, we would have had endless interviews with Lord Mandhelsson on the TV and Radio, milking it for publicity as if he had been the one responsible for it all happening. I think I have only heard one comment from Vince Cable and that's been it.

Excellent news, still a shame on its "rise from the ashes" its no longer a true british company... saying that, Tata has done a great job in turning the fiasco from ford around so we should be thankful.
