Take you have a 2.2TDCi (the latest version as a demo) - it's a sleeved down Transit Van engine not the PSA/Ford Engine we have in the Evoque. First gear is almost unecessary on the road it is so short!

What lessons do you need to drive an auto?

I assume you are correct about the defender engine there's no designation on the back. I'm not sure its the car for me although its an interesting driving experience.

I did not fancy learning to drive an automatic in rush hour traffic. I guess I will have to have a go at sometime though.

RE: Its here...........let the glitch list commence

Got the car back yesterday TV now works, tailgate works better too and the spare wheel is present now. Best of all the car had been cleaned inside and out.

The TV fault was caused by a connection under the seat that in the technician's words "is connected to one plug for cheap evoques and another for posh ones" and mine was connected to the cheap one when it should have been in the posh one apparently.

Tailgate got new struts and had to stay in overnight while a new control module was delivered. This has rectified the issue with it not opening fully sometimes.

Now get out there and drive it! You need to add some rattles to the work list so a few rough backroads should see that job done

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.

I'm driving it as much as I can. We are Off to Dundee tomorrow as it seems its the nearest waterstones to Aberdeen that has kindle paper lights in stock. So we will have probably 1300 miles on the clock in 8 days. I'm starting to think that my 12000 estimate for the insurance might be a bit on the low side Very Happy

We went for a posh lunch today at eat on the green and it was like a landrover convention when we came out. A black pure, my dynamic, a FFRR and a freelander all parked in a row outside the restaurant!

Oops, so excited with driving it I forgot to take photos! I'll throw the camera in the boot today and try to get some nice ones. Its a bit dirty though.

So? It's a Land Rover, they are meant to get dirty
