It's All Coming Together!

Wow, everything has started to fall into place!

On Monday my dealer confirmed that my build date was the next day (Tuesday 13th). I had another email from him this morning (Friday) to say that the car had been delivered to the dealership yesterday! I'm now hoping to be able to collect this Tuesday.

But how's this for fate...

I've ordered the car from Guy Salmon in Wakefield, which is about 100 miles away. I put my Jag X-type in Auto Trader on Monday, and I've just sold it (without viewing) to a guy who lives in.... Wakefield!

Now I've got to run around frantically moving cash between accounts and sorting out insurance.

Just tried the VIN in TOPIX but it's not showing yet. I guess if it really was only built on Tuesday then I may well have the car before it's even in TOPIX!

have you got the short vin rather than the long one - I was given long VIN and had to concatenate to make it work in Topix

It should be something like VA734999 to work in Topix

Ah no, I've been trying SALV A2CC3DH123456 (not really 123456 obviously). Any idea how I shorten this?

All Land Rovers are SAL, that is the maker identifier, so try everything after the V

Nope, not getting anywhere with this. I've done a bit of research to see how a VIN is made up:

S Country
A Company
L Type of vehicle
VA2CC Specification
3 Check digit
D Model year
H Manufacturing plant
999999 Sequential number

I've tried as many different blocks of these as I can think of, but still nothing in TOPIx, though I guess if it's not even in there yet I'm wasting my time!

Haha congratulations, my car is at the dealer too, but they have no time to make the pre collection inspection before the 27th of November, so you will get your car faster than me, even though it arrived earlier, I wish you all the best and always a save drive enjoy your car!

Nightfox, it's possible that it hasn't yet been put on Topix by the typists at LR then!

I think you're probably right. When it does appear I'd like to see the date it went into build, as if it really was started on Tuesday and delivered to the dealers on Thursday, then I have to say I'm gobsmacked (or should that be worried?)
