A Rubber cap from the tailgate

Well actually it fell off into the boot space while I had the tailgate open like it fell from the sky, can't work out where it came from!? I've found 4 the same near the hinges but none missing.

Maybe it was left when they adjusted the tailgate recently... but where! Anyone count more than 4?

Used to bug me when tried to dry round the inside of the boot after washing the car - typically 3 or 4 of these things would fall off and roll under the car! They cover protruding bolt ends. If you open the boot and look round the inner edge you'll see a few of them...

i have this problem every time I wash the car and dry inside the door shuts etc. I recall there is two covers on each side of the hinge and one in the centre.

I found one of those in my boot too, have no idea where it came from and decided it was an extra left from the production line. It looks like one of the buffers for the boot lid, but both of mine where still there when I looked!

Ah! The Centre one sounds like an option... Would make sense that both sides looked identical when I checked...

Interestingly I had a small squeak whenever I hit a pot hole which seems (on a very small sample) much better... maybe it was rubbing.

And it was indeed the centre one, popped it back on, seemed to fit quite snugly so hopefully will stay on!

When the tailgate is open look at the top of the open taigate in the centre (just above the roof) & you will see a black bolt. The rubber cap fits on it, mine vanished at some point & I got a new one last time it went to the dealer. There is another at each side of the top part of the tailgate!
