Intersting................. just did another insurance quote through comparison sites and now they are quoting me around £450 which is considerably cheaper than the £616 & £846 I was quoted a little while ago! Has anyone else noticed the prices coming down?

RE: Insurance quote

I havent tried phoning anyone yet, but am considering keeping my existing car as well (as trade in will be worthless), but will mean a new policy and not sure if they'll allow me to use my full NCD a second time? Anyone recommend ways to do this, I guess i'll have to drop the older car onto Third Party Fire and theft, so maybe transfer the existing policy with the NCD and start fresh for the old car. With my wife's car that would mean 3 cars to insure Shocked

Only a tiny number of D4/RRS and FFRR every go beyond the roadside verge even though they are capable of a lot more. The big companies that are all offshoots of the Treasury (ie Royal Bank of Scotland - which is Admiral/Directline/Churchill and a host of other names that are really all one company ) hate anything that might be a little different and more capable than your average family car and will charge heaps of extra premium. I was once refused cover by Directline for a Discovery 1 even though I had insured it with them for 3 years and never taken it offroad!

For those insured with Admiral, which seems to be a lot! (including me!) you should be aware of an important issue with their insurance. During a new cars 1st year, if it is written off or stolen and not recovered, most insurers will replace the car with a new one on a like for like basis. Admiral (which includes Elephant, Diamond and Bell) DO NOT but pay market value. I have included FullFatTim's post because Admiral are not part of the RBS group but a seperate company based in Cardiff.

I know we may love to think that our Evoque's will be worth more than cost but this won't be the case for long!

I am considering either cancelling my Admiral insurance mid-term or taking some form of GAP insurance.

At least if you know the situation with Admiral, you can make an informed choice[/b]

RE: Insurance quote

Admiral seem to be getting a slating at the moment too, they have been featured on the radio several times this week with regard to motor insurance.
Liverpool Victoria seems to be advertising a lot on C4 (as well a Jaguar with the XJ) - has anybody tried them for a quote as they reckon most of the country is heading to them this year!

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.

RE: Insurance quote

Both are on all the main comparison websites. If you get a quote they will appear at the top of the list, if not they are not competative. Admiral also owns confused.com.

Both are good companies IMHO but the market value issue in the 1st year with Admiral worrries me, hence my last comment.

It has it's advantages Mark............... WinkWink
One thing I found though was that Saga were really really expensive when they quoted me and they haven't stopped sendig junk mail since, even though I have asked them to remove my name from their database
