In car video cam

Hi Everyone, I've been thinking about getting a dashcam, but I was curious about it's resolution when recording through the heated windshield? Do any of you that have already installed one find it to be an issue?

Also, have you hardwired the device, or just use the 12v accessory outlet? If you did hardware it, were are you drawing the power from?

Mine is a cheap HD one, and you can see the filaments of the screen, but it just looks like some dim stripes, it doesnt really detract from the picture, uness you want broadcast quality!

Mines not hardwired.

It could have something to do with Defenders being stolen is on the up.

That's the same camera my Dad is running in his car and I am very impressed with the quality of it for the money. It saved him over £1000 recently when a local bus driver misjudged a turn and knocked off one of his wing mirrors, while my Dad had left the to go shopping. It started recording at the moment of impact and from the playback he could see the VRM of the bus. He was able to subsequently report it and successfully claim for the damage. It's already paid for itself a few times over from this one incident. Seriously considering installing one myself.

Thanks Philskill!!! how are you getting power to the camera? are you using one of the 12v accessory outlets, or did you hardwire it?
