Anyone know what red led lights above head are for?

Last night was the first long journey for my Evoque and on the motorway I noticed a rectangular arrangement of red led's within the shiny black plastic thing above my head by the courtesy lights (think its to do with keyless entry), they were on whilst on the motorway but off when we got onto B roads - maybe to do with blindspot monitors?

Anyone know what they are for?

I thought those lights were there for the girls to check their lippy and mascara in the rear view mirror at night without blinding them as they drive......... Embarrassed

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.
