Oh thats tricky - have liked them all for different reasons!
Ford Escort cost £300 and I only kept it 7 weeks. But in that time, I destroyed a wheel, took the wing mirror off , burned out a clutch and gained an oil leak. You could tell I passed my driving test on a week long 'crash course'. So I am grateful to that car for teaching me to be more careful and learning how to park!
The Nova was awful! it had a 0.9 engine and only 4 gears. The passenger door wouldn't shut properly and the driver wing mirror was loose. I left it home at my parents for years and just used it whenever I happened to be there, so was handy
The Clio was my first proper car. I was 19 and it cost £7500 with a years free in surname (which was worth another £2500!) It was a perfect 'first' car. Kept it 4 years before trading up to the Mini Cooper S
During the same period my other half had the SLK Kompressor, Boxster S and 911. Of the 3 i liked the SLK best. Probably because the metal folding roof was revolutionary at the time. The Boxster looked a bit boring in comparison, despite being miles faster!. I didn't like the 911. Mixture of it being a bit older and the grey leather interior - yuk! We lost thousands on that car as well . . .
Loved loved loved the Mini. I had wanted one when I got the clio, but couldn't get insurance. It was just perfect and I loved driving it like a go kart EVERYWHERE I went (probably where I picking up my habit of a slightly heavy foot) Only got rid of it as I fell pregnant. The other half got the Golf GTi at the same time, which was lovely too, but nothing special in my opinion, although the SDG gearbox was great. We had fund comparing which was fastest! We sold both cars after 18 months and ended up with the Focus (good family car, but can't think of anything I liked about it. Suited our budget I guess) and a 106 (cheap run around as we were now skint having just bought a house, got married and had a baby!) The 106 was a great little run about car - true 70 mpg! Pity it had wind up windows lol
After maternity leave, I got a much better job paying a lot more. But had to commute 50 miles. So out went the 106 and in came the C Class. We bought it 3 years old, £14500 with 11000 miles on the clock, with a top spec. This has been a great car for us. A bit boring, but comfortable, reliable and still looks smart 6 years old.
Once I had got used to earning a fair bit more money , I traded in the Focus for the SLK 350. Its great
Wickedly fast and obviously a convertible. The wind deflection is fabulous and I have the roof down all the time. I bought it a year old and it has cost me a fortune tbh. But hey hoy you only live once. I will be sad to see it go (might try convince hubby to keep it, but he is emotionally attached to the C Class!)
And now the Evoque, which I love. The only car I can say I got quite as excited about was my Mini Cooper S. So far I can see it suiting our family needs just perfect
My husband hasn't actually seen it yet as he is overseas!
Wow, my life in cars lol
