Talking of Alfa love affairs, one of my staff has the V8 Brera, he loves it! It a lovely looker but frankly 18mpg and unreliability with shocking dealer support just doesnt cut it for me, oh I bought a Range Rover... Laughing

How many cars before the Evoque

You mean the v6 Brera Phil. 3.2 with 4wd.

I had one of these, bought it from new in 2007 and within a year it fell apart so badly that ARUK refunded my contract hire payments, offered me a brand new one or the chance to give it back and walkway. I chose the latter. It was a beautiful car and I desperately wanted to love it but what with the reliability and 17mpg it didn't half make it hard to do so.

As an addendum I'm also in the former s2000 drivers camp, brilliant car for the money and there's not much until you get to supercar money which compares with the sound of VTEC at 9000rpm.

RE: How many cars before the Evoque

Back in 1981 I bought a new White Alfasud Sprint Veloce 1.5 Flat Four.

Even now I think back to what a superb car that was, it had style, with performance handling second to none then, shame I bought my first house and the car rusted and had to part company with it.

My brother had one too, and he drove like a lunatic, but at least I knew what it could do, though would never drive like that myself, Oh happy memories.

RE: How many cars before the Evoque

never had big problems with my alfa 159. One broken belt of the water pump that killed the engine, but nicely repaired under warranty.
Only negative: maintenance costs and it drinks, drinks, drinks...

Exige was a plain NA. Loved it. I would imagine yours at 413bhp would be a handful. Have you fitten an LSD? I would strongly advise it if you are doing any track work with all that BHP.

RE: How many cars before the Evoque

Nice to see those Civic Type Rs in there, wow 1.4 tsi only lasted 12k miles, I nearly bought a Golf with that engine, than again most of my car never spent those many miles with me.

Here's my list. Excluding the 6 motorbikes.

1975 Ford Corsair 1500
1977 Triumph 1300, one of the Wife's favourites.
1979 Wolseley 1300TC
1981 Ford Escort 1600E
1982 Alfasud Sprint Veloce I loved this car
1983 Austin Allegro HL
1985 Vauxhall Astra
1987 Lancia Prisma
1989 Montego 1.6L & Rover 216
1991 Rover414 & Citroen BX The dog carrier
1992 Rover 216GTi Honda Engine
1996 Toyota Carina 1.8GS
2001 Vauxhall 2.2d SRi
2003 BMW 330d, One of my wife's favourites
2005 Audi A3 2.0d DSG & Mk IV VW Golf GTTDi 150 (Privately owned used for work 35K miles per year)
2006 BMW 330i Coupe Auto, My Wife's
2007 Mk V VW R32 DSG Superb, till some idiot crashed into it and wrecked it for me.
2008 Lexus IS 220d A mistake.
2008 MkV VW Golf GTi Ed 30 DSG Avg 19mpg
2009 Honda Civic EX 2.2CTDI
2010 Merc C320CDi Sport, My Wifes
2011 Fiat Punto

Would like to think that the Evoque will be with us for several years, my wife and I find it very difficult to agree on cars. But we do with the Evoque.

When I retired in 2006, bought the wife the BMW along with her private plate.

I then stuck to a city runaround for my odd jobs.

RE: How many cars before the Evoque

I can't count all the cars I've owned (the first was a 1954 standard 8 in 1962, I have owned 7 Land Rovers starting with a Turbo Diesel 90 in 1988, I am expecting my Evoque SD4 Prestige 5 door in white at the end of Feb. The wost car I ever had was a Ford cortina estate which only lasted 10 days! the best ever was undoubtedly my Disco3 which I had from 2006 - 9 it had offroad ability better than the 90, enormous interior space and was more comfortable than the Rover 3500 SD1 that I had in the 80s. I confidently expect the Evoque to be more luxurious and I believe the offroad ability will be adequate for my present needs.
