Honda CRV vs ED4 in Snow

I had a 2009 honda CRV 4x4, and traded up to a 2013 Evoque Ed4..

I was a little concerned that the 2 wheel drive Evoque would be a bit rubbish in the snow compared to the 4x4 Honda. I had had the chance to test it out today and i am well suprised, moreover chuffed with the Evoque, It handles traction the snow better than the honda!!

Do you have standard tyres? If so I'm very surprised, as I would have thought the 4x4 (albeit a CRV) should perform better.

But doesn't the CRV run 2WD until slip is detected and then only 5% of the drive it sent to the rear wheels? Also I believe from a CRV owner I know that the way drive is transmitted via a hydraulic system, the CRV can only run 4wd for maximum of 15 minutes before it overheats the fluid?

Load of crap then lol.

I had an X3 a few years back and thought the conditions on one particular drive were none too problematic.
Snow yes, some slush and ice yes but nothing too dramatic.

Well the X3 coped without a hint of a problem but the CRV that was about 3 cars in front of me was having a wail of a time slipping left and right up a gentle slope.
