Good news for those with TPMS

I have just changed my car over from the 20" style 6 with TPMS to 19" Style 3 wheels fitted with winter tyres and added TPMS sensors to the 19" wheels. I was advised that
a) I couldn't fit TPMS to the style 3 - well you can
b) There is a special procedure to fitting the new wheels with sensors - there isn't
c) If I didn't follow the procedure there would be a permanent TPMS fault light on the dash - there isn't, on start-up the test check is run and then the light goes out - if the system had found no sensor then there would have been a warning light.

SO if you want to acquire a second set of wheels for say off road or winter tyres and have TPMS fear not, it is possible but expensive. A set of 4 sensors for the TPMS costs £250 from a Land Dealer (and that was after forum user discount from LPR). My local tyre shop fitted everything for me and didn't even charge me for fitting the sensors to my wheels.

How much has that second set of wheels/tyres cost you and where do you store the 4 wheels not in use?

I got my winter tyres from LR and they swapped TPMS from my original tyres FOC.

I actually got some good use out of my TMPS earlier in the month. It flashed up and when I checked I didn't have a full on puncture, so took it to the garage to fill with air and the pressure was down to 29 PSI (instead of 35)

Some kids had stolen my valve caps, so may have let some air out whilst they were at it! I don't appear to have a slow puncture, so glad it flashed up as I wouldn't have noticed Smile

Dan, £1550 all told - a set of cast off style 3 wheels and 4 new Pirelli Ice and Snow tyres, £250 for the TPMS. Ride is much quieter and a bit softer and I will be able to run most of the year on them up here and save my 20's from any embarrassing scuffs. I can store up to 6 sets (24 wheels and tyres) in my garage, if I had only one set of wheels then Kwik Fit Budget in Stirling has a tyre "hotel" - £35 a year to change your tyres twice and to store the set not in use. Their tyre hotel was warmer than my house too, really cosy!
