"Land Rover will start contacting owners of the affected vehicles in mid-January. They will be recommended to take their vehicles to their nearest Land Rover dealership, which will inspect and tighten the rear brake caliper retaining bolts, free of charge."

How on earth can they justify waiting a month before they start contacting owners on a safety recall related to brakes!!??

RE: Faulty Brake recall

Had mine serviced last week, they told me that 50% of my rear brakes have worn out and I've only done 9000 miles. Don't do hard braking so was surprised, wonder if this has anything to do with it.

Not if your car wan't built on 11 June 2012...

As for brake wear, worth remembering the brakes are not just used to slow the car down but in the stability control and traction control programs. You'll probably tell us the closest your car gets to going off road is to a petrol filling station but it's important to know off-roading especially is not a zero cost activity.

Sounds overly high, do you release the Parking brake yourself before you pull off or rely on the auto release? as pulling away quickly with EPB on is going to add wear to the rear brakes, EPB is quick but not instant.

RE: Faulty Brake recall

I find the rear two wheels get covered in more brake dust than the front two. Which is strange, as the fronts have the bigger brake set.
