Evoque, is it really a 4x4?

Of course it's a bloody 4X4. 4 wheels, all driven. What's his definition of a 4X4? What's his next article going to be; 'Tricycles - do they have to have three wheels’?

maybe he got mixed up with a mini moke, I understand they are popular over there.

Bet he's never tried one offroad, nor have most people who rubbish it. Probably something to do before pretending to be a reporter with an opinion!

Isn't it a TD4? I see it only has one exhaust.

TD4 is still 4WD IIRC, only ED4 (in the UK) was permanently 2WD all others had 4WD as standard and now some have 4WD that deselects itself above 23mph to save fuel.

Last time I was in an LR showroom, they had a TD4 with twin exhausts as well, which really confused me!

Even the more typical Evoques are only fully 4 x 4 when they detect slip, of course, the rest of the time it's 95% front wheel drive (as you can tell from the tyre wear).

glad mine is a permanent 4 wheel drive. otherwise I would have purchased a cadjar. not

That's the point, though - it's not. Same as all Evoques, yours is 95% front wheel drive unless the terrain demands more to the rear wheels, which won't happen in normal driving.

Sorry Donny bbut Evoque and FFreelannder2/Disco Sport apart from ED4 are permanently 4WD, 95% of the drive is sent to the front wheels and 5% to the rears ALL THE TIME, the split is variable continuously depending on grip and can be 95% drive to the rear wheels and 5% to the front if necessary. Also with torque vectoring and TC the pwoer could be sent all to one wheel, front or rear! But the car does always have all 4 wheels driven all of the time (unless you have a 2014MY on Si4 or a 2015MY diesel that has the active drive system option).
