That seems like an awful lot of cars to me approx £1m worth. How does that compare to other models. If this is normal I didn't realise dealers sold so much.

I had a chat with james at LPR and he said pre launch demand for the RRE has outstripped the RRS already and we are still 6 months from launch.

and the margins involved on new cars for the dealers are very small

I got an RRS on launch day - waiting lists were 9 months long by then and extended out to nearly a year at one stage!

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.

RE: Deposit IN

The wait was so bad in the early days of RRS that when one member of RRSport.co.uk had a car drive over the bonnet of his 2 days old RRS the insurance company sent the wreck back to the factory to be rebuilt rather than pay the hire cars fees for the 9-10 months for the duration of his wait for a replacement car!
So take good care of your Evoque if delivery times start to stretch out because if it gets so badly damaged that it should be written off you may find they repair it instead to save money.

Tim, it is fair to say that dealers have a period of time before they have to pay for stock vehicles, however it is usually with daily interest.

Dealers are debited for the vehicle when it is registered, therefore you will find that most cars are registered on the day of delivery or the day before to assist cash-flow at peak times.

The most difficult periods are Feb and Aug where we are holding significant amounts of stock which has not yet been paid for, whilst the customer waits for the new registration month. We were sat on 6x our usual stock level on 28th Feb this year.

Thanks for the details James - knowing how many cars you guys shift down there that was a lot of stock to have to look after/ insure and find storage for.

Nice. I also ordered the petrol model. Been thinking wether to change to diesel for economy and resale value. But think I will miss the extra power.

What made you go for petrol.
