Cruise control

When I see the speed limit sign approaching I drop my speed to a degree or two under and press the cruise control switch but it rarely registers, does anyone else have issues with theirs or am I doing something wrong?

RE: Cruise control

There have been several times when I thought I turned it on, wait a few seconds and realize that it didn't engage. Not sure if the button hadn't been depressed enough or what. Lately I have been holding the button for a bit longer and seems to work fine.

RE: Cruise control

If you are driving in a 30mph limit then if I remember correctly it will not engage below 28mph and hold the speed

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.

RE: Cruise control

In answer to your question I find the steering wheel buttons abit hit and miss, quite often I have found this and have also changed tracks on the cd or ipod when i actuallly wanted to adjust the volume.

imo I think it is related to the buttons on the wheel

So the green indicator icon thing in the speedo area of the console doesn't light up at all then?

RE: Cruise control

I seem to have to push and hold the button ( steering wheel) for a second or so. In addition , noticed if I am in a gear thats going to be too high then Cruise control wont engage. For me, that a 30 zone through a village well kown for policemen with cameras . Wont engage in 5th gear at that speed ( manual TD4 ) but will happily in 3rd / 4th . I set it to 28 , in 3rd gear .

RE: Cruise control

I've read quite a few reports of steering wheel button failures so you may have a problem.

Just to confirm is it the + button you are pressing to Set the speed?
