RE: Sort of .... BBC review

There is also this BBC webpage http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-14726189
They say it looks like an Evoque....................... sorry but I don't see anything remotely Evoque in it except maybe the styling in the headlights.
Gerry McGovern has a hard task dragging a 1948 design into the 21st century - whatever he does will be wrong in the eyes of the purists. Anyway it will probably look nothing like that (Just like Evoque looks nothing like LRXRolling with Laughter ) by the time it hits the mountainsides and byways, but I bet it will be an expensive motor when it arrives - Oh and it mentions somewhere that the Defender has been with us since 1948 - absolute TOSH, Defender has been here since the late 1980's or early 1990's, before that it was the Land Rover 90/110 and before that Series 3, 2a,2 and 1

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.

RE: BBC review (& New Defender)

I think the "new" Defender looks very Skoda Yeti(ish) ..... IMO

RE: BBC review (& New Defender)

That is also the general line of comments on the SLROC forum too........... I think it also bears a fair resemblance to the Toyota FJ Cruiser.

RE: BBC review (& New Defender)

It's the colour coded B pillar that makes it look Yetish
IMO the whole look of the car would be improved by making that pillar black to give the floating roof appearance

RE: BBC review (& New Defender)

I quite like the look of it but it does need to loose any resemblance to the Skoda.
The other thing I have noticed that probably won't get passed the safety tests are the front recovery points - in enlarged photos these are the orange things below the front fog lights, they aren't the indicators which was what I thought at first. Also why would a Defender want a spoiler over the rear door, unless LR is considering the 4.4TDv8 or 5.0ltr S/C motors in it......................

RE: BBC review (& New Defender)

I think this mock up looks much better.
Should add (to avoid confusion) this picture is not of the concept the new defender will be based on.
