Are all new orders 2015?

Just curious as I'm about to place my order for a Pure Plus, are all orders now switched over to 2015 models? Thanks, very excited to be joining your ranks, or should I say ranques.

Luka, in the UK our lead in times are now 4-5 months - we are told it's because so many cars are being built for export.............. Normally the new MY goes on sale in the autumn but I know that some dealers who have sold their allocations up to now are able to take orders for 2015MY because the UK delivery date will be after 2015MY goes on sale BUT I don't know if that is the same for export cars. Perhaps Pete at Land Rover Customer Services is able to comment.

I ordered a dynamic last Saturday at Strastones Newcastle and it's a 2015 with an estimated mid Sept delivery date.

I don't know what it is with he UK selling a July issue (magazine) in May already. Same with a 2015 car in 2014. Or maybe the car calender runs from July-June?

In Australia the build date signifies when a car left the production line and the compliance plate tells you when it cleared customs in Australia. There can often be a big difference between the two and - even though it's the compliance plate that legally determines what year model a car is - the build date is still important when it comes time to selling.

In the UK model years dates are up to the car maker to determine, the licence plate usually indicates when the vehicle was first registered and this of course is more important if buying a used car as in our system you can tell where and in what year the car was first declared for taxation from the (standard issue) licence plate. The plates change twice a year on 1st March and 1st September, so it is quite easy to date a car unless it has a vanity/ cherished licence plate, which fouls up the whole system! My Evoque is a 2014 Model year (sales between August 2013 and August 2014 approx, decided by the maker) BUT it is registered on a 2007 licence plate (one that claims it was first registered between 1st Sept 2007 and 28th Feb 2008.............. because I own the plate and transfer it from car to car). Waht I could not do is take a 2007 car and put a 2014 (ie "14" or "64" plate onto it as that would be making the car look younger than it really is). Confused? This might help!

My TDv8 RRS had the plate FA57 RRS (with some screwing up of the eyes and a bit of imagination that is FAST RRS) which decodes to mean that the car was first registered in the city of Nottingham between 1st Sept 2007 and 28th Feb 2008 -FA57 and you cannot read anything into the last 3 letters.....) - but the plate was purchased from the Govt Vehicle Licencing Dept (called the DVLA here) website. The car never went near the Nottingham tax office qand I paid extra to have the plate!

I think I remember that plate, being up for sale on the RRS forum.

It is now on a Jaguar XF RS.............
