RE: Any photoshop bods?

Wrapping isn't as expensive as I thought! I sent an email to a local company, part of a nationwide set up that I found by using a well known search engine, and here is their reply when I asked about wrapping a Coupe with Ford Racing Blue. I also asked about doing it with the body in metallic blue and leaving the roof, but they didn't respond to that bit.

"Hi Timothy,

Many thanks for your enquiry.

The colour you are looking for achievable, however its not a stock colour, so would have to manufacture it. This carries a premium cost, but the results are stunning.

The cost for a full external wrap would be £2450 inc VAT. (a normal colour would be around £1600).

Probably the best thing to do would be to come over and have a look at the colours we have available, we have an extensive range.

Kind Regards

I was expecting a standard colour to be much more expensive. Might take a run over to see them tomorrow as they are only 40 minutes away from me.

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.

They are all stunning, time to break out the sunglasses.

Also seeing the side vents body coloured looks good as well.

Apart from the pink effort, I don't think there is a bad colour for the Evoque.

BTW Ali are you in sales if not you shold beVery Happy

The colour I first had in mind was Melina Blue which I had on my first new car, a Ford Puma. That had a definate purpley look to it and I still love those shades and just wish LR had offered something similar. I hadn't heard of wrapping until I joined this forum and so am still a bit wary, Hubby even more so.....

I was actually in sales many moons ago Tongue Out, got fed up of having to be nice to people all the time though Laughing

Hope you are still enjoying your Evoque Smile

Hi Tim,

I have had quotes from as little as £1200 from a very local firm, they don't seem to have that much experience though and the price scares me a bit as it seems too cheap iyswim....

My second quote (from the same franchise as the one you have contacted but the Manchester branch) is in the same ball park as your quote and so far all the replies from the guy there are very helpful and professional. He has put some samples in the post for me so I will take a look at them when they arrive and take things from there......

He also sent an email with this attachment of a new shade of metallic blue they are getting in soon but think it might be a bit too 'in your face' for me......we'll see.....

Would love to hear how you get on......

RE: Any photoshop bods?

That blue looks like it could be similar to the colour used by Subaru on their WRC Imprezzas. At least if the colour gets too much after a while you can return the car to it's original colour without too much trouble!

RE: Any photoshop bods?

There is an argument that wrapping the car is cost neutral as the paintwork will be perfect underneath in 3 years time when you remove the wrap, adding value to the car for selling.

I doubt it is cost neutral, but there will deffo be some benefit when selling so the wrap is actually a lot cheaper than you are already thinking.

RE: Any photoshop bods?

ahhhhhh! Im in Blue heaven!

Love all those, but especially 1 and 4.

The really metallic shine to it is what makes it amazing.

I dream of a world when you can specify exactly what colour you want at no/minimal extra cost straight from the factory. You'd think the technology would be there - or at least expand the range from Black, White, grey and red!

(realise Ive probably just offended 99% of people on here with their Black, White, Grey or Red cars! Embarrassed )

SD4 Pure, Auto, 5 dr, Mauritius Blue, Pure Tech Pack, Reversing Camera, Front parking aid, Heated seats, Sat Nav, mud flaps. after market tint.

RE: Any photoshop bods?

i'm sure one day you'll be able to change the colour of your car as and when you feel like it.

Using Chromogenic technology in paint or other covering allowing the owner to modify at will.

The ultimate matching accessory....

RE: Any photoshop bods?

This afternoon I went to the wrapping company that I contacted earlier this week to have a look................................... OH DEAR!
Too much choice, you can have any design you can think of and can afford to pay for and they will even make custom colours at extra cost. Result - I came out totally bewildered. One draw back was they couldn't give me a CGI of what my car might end up looking like.
One thing that I didn't realise too is that they don't wash the car before wrapping it other than a wipe over with a special fluid that helps the adhesive on the wrapping plastic stick, i.e. it removes any coating you might have had applied that would reduce the ability of the plastic to stick. You have to arrive at the wrapping place with a spotless car or arrange covered transport to get there after having had the car detailed, they also recommend that you don't wash the car within 48 hours before getting it wrapped and that you don't use a high pressure, pressure washer on the car after wrapping.
Just to give you an idea of the colour palette you have to work with, this is just ONE of the standard colour books they have! There is then the option to have any of those colours in matte or Chrome finish.........
http://www.robotmech.com/uploads/media/P...lle_01.pdf
There are many more and then whatever design your mind can come up with!
The MD showed me several projects they were waiting to commence............... a Nissan GTR wrapped to look like a cross between a White/Grey /Black cow or White/ Grey/Black camouflage.
