RE: 300 hp Evoque in the works!

ShockedShocked well I guess it was always going to be offered with more power.
How far away is this possible new model?
If under a year, will it be tempting to hold off and wait ?
Any ideas on time scale? Anyone....

RE: 300 hp Evoque in the works!

The talk in the article about branding is ridiculous.

There are only two acceptable names for the car

Range Rover Evoque Sport
Range Rover Evoque RS

Keep it simple!

If it has 300bhp, looks bad-ass and is not a huge leap in price over a dynamic, I'd be DEAD KEEN.

Bring it on!

I expect they would have to bore and stroke it.

Yeah.. and Audi who now own Porsche, have been getting 134bhp/Litre from a 2.5 Litre engine for years, in fact they got 138.6 bhp /Litre from a 2.2 Litre engine (admittedly a five cylinder) back in the eighties -but probably before you 'bought' a driving license so you wouldn't remember...

Hey DDX, did the car in the image have an RS badge on it?

I reckon if it comes it will be way over 12 months away. Then waiting list so why wait. Get an evoque now. Then get the 300bhp later

Well of course you can increase the power of a turbo charged engine by increasing the boost pressure and effective intercooling. Larger cylinder charge, more fuel to go with it, a bigger bang and more power. All fine until the increased stresses on the engine cause something to go bang. No point in having a more powerful engine if engine longevity is compromised.

Evoque was great, now in an RRS SVR

RE: 300 hp Evoque in the works!

Mark this was why the RRS and FFRR got a 4.2ltr S/C when there was already a 4.4V8 NA - in testing the 4.4 S/C's went into self destruct mode due to thin walls between the cylinders. JLR got round it by sleeving the cylinders thus reducing the capacity to 4.2ltrs. Several 4.4V8 S/Cs somehow managed to escape from the factory and one ended up at the Dunkeld LRE for a while - if they have survived any engine problems they must be quite collectable by now

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.

Defender, if youre in London i can put you in touch with some people. For the Land Rover one they were looking for other suv owners and I happened to fit the bill.
JBO, did not have a badge but they were emphasising on the 'RS' name as seen on Jags.

RE: 300 hp Evoque in the works!

Tim, thanks for the information. It's always interesting to look at a crankcase casting and see how close the cylinders can be to each other - and therefore how thin the walls between them.

I would love to see a 300 bhp RRE, but I need the engine to be bullet-proof of course.
