2013 Evoque - Engine Replacement
So, I have a 2013 Evoque with 69,000 kms on it. Timing chain broke and now I need a new engine.
Covered under warranty, but does anyone else think this is strange to happen at such a low mileage?
Anyone know if this is a common issue, or known issue to LR/RR vehicles?
Anyone also comment on if when the engine light comes on (solid, not flashing) if it is safe to continue driving, or should it be taken in ASAP.

RE: 2013 Evoque - Engine Replacement
Not heard of it before with an Evoque, it's a fairly Common engine so hopefully not a common problem!
Driving with the Engine light is not ideal!
From the Manual...
ENGINE MALFUNCTION (AMBER)
Illuminates briefly when the
ignition is switched on. If the lamp
flashes or illuminates at any other
time, there is a fault with the engine.
Avoid high speeds and seek qualified
assistance urgently.

RE: 2013 Evoque - Engine Replacement
I'm assuming that the motor is the 2.0 petrol turbo which is is a Ford unit used in millions of cars and it doesn't seem to be an issue as I don't recall reading about loads of people with with engine failure in Fords with the same engine.
A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.

RE: 2013 Evoque - Engine Replacement
So RR replaced the engine, but now I am wondering if anyone has any experience with resale price on vehicles with the engine replaced.
Is this a positive or negative thing for a buyer? If it is a negative, does anyone know what kind of loss I am looking at.
Got 70,000kms on it, prestige trim, black trim options (inside and out in some areas), dynamic kit for rear diffuser and wheels.

I'd say it's got to be a positive - new owner will have at least 69,000 km's on it before it goes bang again!
Seriously, I wouldn't hesitate at buying a car with that mileage with a brand new manufacturer replacement engine recently fitted.
