20" Wheels

I have placed an order for a Prestige with 20" wheels, bot NOT trick suspension - is that a mistake.
SWMBO and myself prefer a firmer ride (soft rides almost make her vomit :oopsSmile, but would the ride be too hard?
I have searched all posts and the consensus seems to be 19" without the magnaride, and not having had a LR or RR before how do they generally ride?

SD4 Prestige, Mauritius, Element, Cirrus Headlining, Pana Roof, Park Assist, Heated Steering Wheel,Blind Spot monitor, 20" Alloys, Powered Tailgate

RE: 20" Wheels

I've also gone for a prestige with 20" ers and no magneride...my fingers are crossed. I believe I can still add it but am hopeful the ride isnt too hard. Waiting for feedback from the Gleneagles event.

I just prefer the look of the 20's as oposed to the 19's.

Arrived 16th December 2011: 5 door Prestige SD4 auto in Barolo black with ambience interior, pano roof, privacy and 20" style 6 alloys.Very Happy

I just about prefer the look of the 20"s but I am wary of the cost (up front for the wheels and then replacement cost of the more expensive tyres). I also assume the 20"s are more prone to kerbing, although they don't have low profile tyres.

From what I've read to date, the only time 20"s are uncomfortable is when 'dynamic mode' is selected on cars with AD. That wouldn't put me off 20"s, I'd just keep AD in 'normal mode'.

Bottom line - if I could justify stretching to 20"s and AD, I would.

RE: 20" Wheels

I also have Prestige with 20".
Only then it looks exactly as the LRX. So there is no other choice for me.

I also ordered magneride. I didn't even think of it in the first place, but after my dealer told me bout it, I now think it might actually be the nicest of all my extras.

Remember... you're buying the Evoque mainly for its unbeatable looks, so don't even think of comprimise on that. Not for 1 Inch.

RE: 20" Wheels

If you find the ride isn't acceptable on 20's then you can always sell them on here to somebody else who doesn't worry about ride but is concerned about the looks! There are plenty of folks on the other forums Martin hosts who are desperate to fit 22" and bigger wheels to cars that come with 19's as standard - they aren't worried about loosening all their fillings, just that their car looks right in their eyes.

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.

RE: 20" Wheels

I've stuck with the 18" wheels, based purely on the fact that my current freelander 2 runs on 18" and the ride is perfect IMO.Thumbs Up

Having now seen the car I have went for 19s
