You might try calling Land Rover Jaguar of Houston. This same thing happened to me. I just took it in and here is the invoice. (sorry its upside down)
Of note, the last time these connectors were manipulated was at the factory.

That's very interesting. Not much detail there, but if they were installing a compatible connector on the assembly line that was not moisture proof that would be interesting. I believe somewhere in some of the threads there was the "I was driving in heavy rain" and "they found coil 3 was misfiring" and some mentioned water getting in somewhere that had to be cleaned/dried out. If this was a case where a non-moisture proof or splash proof connector made it onto the assembly line and then onto the car in a bad spot, this could be the smoking gun I guess. If moisture got on the contacts and provided a bridge impedance it could mess with the coil and especially so if it's an HV circuit.

I'm just guessing of course, but it's fun to speculate. The fix = moisture proof connector.... that would be sweet.

Tim, did you associate your issue with heavy rain or maybe a hurricane that came through I didn't hear about? We could use some rain over this way but I'd be scared to drive my car in it after reading about this problem.

Maybe the people that didn't relate their problem to rain were spending too much time at the car wash?

Is there a way to see what softwasre versions you have installed through the menu's (power train, Entertainment systems etc) or is it only available on the Diagnostic port? Be good to track the software versions we have and what the latest version is etc

I've been forwarding all of your suggestions to my LR dealer. Got a message from the service director this afternoon:

"The Land Rover North America Field Specialist was here yesterday to work with our technician. They have narrowed the problem to the fuel delivery system. We are replacing the high pressure mechanical fuel pump. We will call you after the car has been retested."

So far, 4-times now they were certain they had the problem diagnosed and fixed and 4-times they were wrong. So fingers crossed... again.

I'll post later and let you know what happens.

MBS I would suggest it still has problems you should talk to the General Manager of the dealership. Let him know that you would like the vehicle to go into arbitration. That will at least get the ball rolling to fix this problem. I wish you the best on this!!!

Agreed, it's a Yank Ford product. Just not built in the US which surprised me. They seem to be only building the 3.5L in the US.

Slee18, I've already done just that. I spoke to the GM this past Monday and got his assurance (verbal, anyway) that if this next solution doesn't permanently fix the problem, it's either money back or new car. And yes, writing that request/demand in an e-mail I sent him the day before (Sunday) seems to have upped the stakes and urgency for him. Luckily, the GM and entire dealership has been completely on my side since this problem first appeared --- minus the slowness and difficulty they're having finding a permanent fix.

Ok, I picked up my RRE this past Wednesday from the dealer. I think all the tweaking they did to the engine to (hopefully) find the fix (fuel delivery system malfunction) has actually made it run even better than when I first bought it. Engine very smooth, seems to shift between gears faster/easier. Time will tell. Fingers still crossed.
