Pretty pants really but am not too bothered other than the fact that the official figures are way out. Would have still bought the car even if the official figures were closer to reality.
I feel good then at 2.5k miles @ 31.2mpg average.

Arrived 16 December 2011: Prestige SD4 auto 5dr in OG with Adaptive Dynamics, Adaptive Xenons, Surround Cameras, Auto Dimming Rearview, Grey Oak Wood, Spare Wheel and Powered Tailgate.

Not really that hilly. I tend to go round them rather than overSmile
The car is used for quite a lot of short journeys and that will have an impact. However I'm Definitley not a fast driver but have noticed the engine over revving when moving away from a standstill or crawl...I need to take it in because that won't help the fuel consumption.

I'm still about 8mpg better than my last car though.

IKM I'm going to have to beat your av mpg...I've set 31.3 as my target Smile

Arrived 16th December 2011: 5 door Prestige SD4 auto in Barolo black with ambience interior, pano roof, privacy and 20" style 6 alloys.Very Happy

RE: Real world mpg

Yesterday I changed back to my 20" summer tyres and filled the tank at the same time. Today my usual 16 mile trip to town that was averaging 32 out /34 on the way back on the winter 19" tyres had 38.1mpg going and 39.6 returning from town. I thought that the size of the tyres wasn't supposed to be of consequence to the trip computer but it's either the rolling dimeter is different or the stickiness of the winter tyres causes increased fuel consumption. IIRC somebody else posted recently that they had the same experience when changing back to summer 20's.

RE: Real world mpg

I thought the external diameter was the same on both 19" and 20" if there a slight difference it would also show up in a different mileage (perhaps)

RE: Real world mpg

Regarding the rolling diameter, that's what I thought too Ian. I wonder if the "stickiness" of the winter tyre compound has a "friction" penalty for mpg. I've run 3000 miles on the winter tyres since February and 3800 miles prior to that on the summer 20's

RE: Real world mpg

Tim, I'd say it was the fact proper winter tyres have slits and blocks that move more to deal with gripping in the snow and so will move on tarmac and provide more drag, good to hear your mpg is up to normal levels now! Rolling radius should be the same hence the different profiles 19" are 55 profile, 20" are 45.

Real world mpg

SD4 auto using cruise control drove about 100 miles on M5 at 70mph getting 37mpg then about 50 miles at 80mph getting 35mpg. Not what I hoped for when I ordered the car but I wont be losing any sleep over it.

RE: Real world mpg

Oh dear. we drove up to Halewood and back last Thursday, 290 miles in our C320 Merc Auto, 44.9mpg average, something like 56mph avg, the cars got 20k on the clock, would hope the Evoque could match that.
