Got the call yesterday.

Originally was to be received end of October, ready for 2nd Nov handover.

Now beginning of December...

RE: Has your build/delivery date been put back?

So, the useless dealer tells me today that my order has been put back to the 12 January from 13 November, a slip of two months in a little over two weeks.

Start with the total shambles at Land Rover and then lay on top the couldn't-care-less attitude of the dealer and you have one decidedly unhappy customer here.

RE: Has your build/delivery date been put back?

Ordered in July, the theory being that Si4 demand is lower and there were free slots. Turns out we are all being shafted by Xenons or lack of them.

When I was at the factory in September, there were cars everywhere standing around outside whereever they could find space for them - including the employee car partks - without headlights and especially the side trim below the bonnet. There are at least three marquees set up around the Halewood site, not to have a big party but to provide a covered place to add the missing parts when they shuffle in from whereever. Just imagine what it will be like if it starts snowing - the famed JLR electrical reliability will really be put to the test.

I visit Porsche twice a year and I never, ever see anything comparable. I ordered a car in August 2009 and was given a build date the next day after the order had been confirmed; it was built on that exact day and the car was delivered to me 7 days later, 2 days early. Committing to a delivery date and then sticking to it is the route to customer satisfaction.

Terrible.

A week or two I wouldn't quibble at but TWO MONTHS? Terrible.

I currently have a date of 21st Nov and was hoping that as the date gets closer there may be less chance of it being altered but clearly not.

I am in touch with my dealer by email but am dreading 'that' email/call coming through.

It just takes the shine off the whole affair......

Someone has to take the blame for this and it has to be L/R themselves ,
they knew how many people placed orders before Christmas well in advance. So they should have checked can the company that are making the parts if they can supplly before taking our money and giving us build dates and getting our hopes up. Rogue traders ,I think Watchdog needs to investigate them.

Pure: SD4,Manual,pan roof,electric tail gate,reversing cam,tints,xenons (finally), 19" style 4 and in orkney grey 5 door,ebony headliner,f/s/mirrors,Nov build and Dec arrived

What I really don't like is that the wait for the car has tripled in the space of two weeks. That does not speak of a production system running like clockwork, more a bunch of headless chickens wondering what to do next.

RE: Has your build/delivery date been put back?

Just had the e-mail from my dealer about delays.
Should have been last week in October.
Now being built 21st November, with delivery about 2 weeks after that. So a delay of 6 weeks. Not good but could have been whose.
Reason given was xenons....

What gets me is LR had all these orders months ago, but can still get it wrong. Waiting untill the 11th hour to inform there customers, hoping that most will still now wait & not cancel there orders . Evil

My order was placed with my dealer when the prices first came out in April.
