RE: 9 speed ZF auto for 2014

When I was ordering the Sq5 the sales guy said that LR Gaydon (R&D) keep borrowing Audi convertibles to study the hood mechanisms - the A5 Cabrio for instance still leaves a useable boot when retracted....research for the Evoque convertible apparently...

Delivered 15th May 2012, rejected and returned 4th Feb 2013 - SD4 5 door Prestige manual with a bucket full of rattles Mauritius Blue. Crazy Audi MY2020 RSQ3

RE: 9 speed ZF auto for 2014

Info on future Land Rover models I have:

New RRS to be shown at New York Motor Show
There will be a mini Range Rover - Smaller than Evoque
Long Wheelbase Evoque will share chassis with new Freelander. New Freelander will be available with 7 seats
No mention of new Disco. Selling well so current shape will be used for a few more years.

p.s, although I love my Evoque, the shine is starting to fade. Maybe a tad too slow....Considering changing for an A45 AMG.

Delivered: Evoque 5 door Prestige SD4 Auto 4WD, Orkney Grey, Fixed Panoramic Roof, Ivory Headliner, Vibe Interior, Spare wheel, 20" Chrome Shadow Style 7

My brother has an A5 cab............................... the roof has been a never ending source of problems with it so lord knows why LR are borrowing them unless they are looking for duff mechanisms to fit to maintain their traditional place at the bottom of the reliablity charts. His A4 cab was far suprior in every respect compared to his A5.

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.

RE: 9 speed ZF auto for 2014

Must admit I loved the ZF autos in my FFRR's and RRS's, so much better than te Aisin units in Evoque and Freelander 1. Cannot see the weight saving of 7.5kgs having a huge effect on economy but the higher top gear should improve cruising economy although a lot will depend on the torque changes they make to allow the car / transmission to work at lower RPM. If LR can resolve the battery issues with Evoque then I might have found my next car!

Any idea if the lower gears are really low, for off road stuff and that in practice it is closer to a six speed box in real world use?

Either way I am getting excited.

Evoque No3: MY15 Dynamic Lux SD4, Auto, Santorini Black, Pimento Dynamic Plus Sports Seats, Ebony headlining, Pan Roof, Shadow Chrome Alloys.
