driver side air (A/C) vent issue - how to remove? - sheriffd2 - 14-05-2016 12:43am

Hi all! New here, just took delivery of a 2106 Evoque - loving it so far!

One small issue, the driver's side air conditioning vent adjustment wheel has somehow become disconnected somewhat internally - feels like its just jumped off of whatever gear/latch that connects it inside to the valve flap that cuts off / opens the air flow (I hope that makes sense).

Anyhow, I'm pretty mechanically inclined and expect it's likely a simple fix I can take care of myself (not to mention save myself a trip to the service center) - but thought before I try to figure out how to remove the vent assembly, maybe someone has some tips - so, anyone run into this, or know how to best get that little vent assembly free from the dash? Thanks in advance!

Mine is the same on the passenger side! Grateful for any tips on how to fix.

Surely both of your cars still have warranty?

Yes but it seems a silly small thing not to be able to fix. Mine is stuck solid. Something to fix at a service but not worth the trip on its own.
