Software changes required when upgrading wheels? - SteveM - 09-03-2016 09:47pm

Hi Folks, I purchased a set of 20" five split spoke style 5 black edition alloys today, fitted with 245 X 45 R20 cross contact continentals for my new evoque which will be supplied with 18" wheels.
The seller sources all his stock from JLR and advised I would need my dealer to amend the software settings for the vehicle when I change the wheels over. His rationale was that owners who have failed to do this when upgrading vehicles set up for other wheels are eating diffs.
Can anyone provide any advice on this issue? I have already read the thread which touched on this previously, but didn't find it definitive.

Advice/working knowledge greatly appreciated.

What's your overall rolling radius before and after?

Ever way, sounds like rubbish, as how can they amend software for this?

Yep been running mine on 3 different sets of different wheel sizes but official Evoque tyre options for 4 1/2 years. Try asking your dealer I bet he wont know what your talking about!

Have we had any reports of Evoques eating diffs on the forum? I don't recall any on here or EOC. Folks appear to have been running up to 22" wheels without issues............

As they would say where the OP comes from, "Total Pish!"

We move from 19" in winter to 20" on summer without any problems whatsoever. The difference is minimal when you compare height of 19 and 20 tyres.

Gentlemen,

Thank you for your responses. I'm somewhat relieved to hear that I may have been misinformed.
