Changing Rear Brake Pads - rshefferly - 08-10-2014 07:28pm

My Land Rover dealer told me that the only way to change the rear brakes on the Evoque is electroncially. They use their computer to back out the rear piston. Has anyone ever heard of this being the only option? If so, do you know if there is an electronic tool that can be purchased to do this instead of paying dealer prices for a brake job?

The emergency parking brake procedure does not back out the piston far enough to replace the pads.

I have changed mine twice all round over the 66k miles so far.

I greatly appreciate your response. I followed these directions and put the veicle in service mode. No chime, but the dash indicates it is in service mode and I hear the brake pistons retract. However, the brake piston does not retract all the way back to allow the new pads to be installed. Not sure if I am missing something.

I had the same - just have to push the pistons littlebit more with big plaiers

Harry,

I think your suggesting to use pliaers to "turn" the brake piston back into the caliper while also pushing the piston back. Please confirm. Thank you.
