Hello all, need some help, got the above on order, I tried a dynamic and found the road noise worse than a prestige, is this due to the 20 with low profile tyres ?

Really would like the 20 shadow chrome wheels on the prestige, your thoughts please really torn between dynamic and prestige as love the style of dynamic.

Cheers

Welcome to BabyRR.com

Was the Dynamic you drove a 2013 or 2014MY car? My new Dynamic is very much quieter than the 2012MY car I ran previously. 2014MY cars have a different mirror design to reduce the wind noise around the A pillars and now run on Michelin Latitude tyres instead of the Continentals that earlier car ran on. Apart from the bodywork differences and the Magneride (it's an option on Prestige versions) the underpinnings of the prestige and Dynamic are the same

The dynamic was a 2012 model, so the new tyres quiet ?.

I can't compare a 2012 model to a 2014 model but am sure Tim knows first hand the difference in noise level, I can help you by saying the dynamic is a reasonably quiet car with no annoying noise coming from the tyre's or any outside noise, was the 2012 model the only one available to test drive at your dealer?

Certainly the Michelins on my new car run a more quietly than the Continentals of my 1st Evoque which was one of the first on UK roads and I never drove a 2013MY car so I don't know what changes were made between my first one being built and the second one being built. I do know that after driving my first one home on Sept 9th 2011 I complained on this forum that the car made a lot of wind noise and was contacted by Land Rover through the dealership I bought it from to return the car so LR could get an engineer to evaluate the noise. He deemed my car unacceptable and at the first service a redesigned door/ window seal was fitted that had been fitted to later cars that rolled off the production line.

I would say that you would be hard pressed to tell any difference in road noise between a 20" shod Dynamic and a 20" shod Prestige should you opt for the shadow chromes! The only interior differences that I can see between the two is a bit of wood on the dash and the design of the seats. You can now have a Dynamic with Prestige seats as an option if you want - Premium Pack seats are the same on Prestige and Dynamics

Yup mine was noisier on the continentals than one on Pirellis that I drove. I'm sacrificing some noise switching to Pirellis instead of Michelins next, in favour of reportedly better grip in the cold and wind of Scotland.
