DAB+ upgrade? - BFGEvoqueMan - 26-11-2013 08:27pm

I am particularly annoyed by the fact that the RRE does not have DAB+ which means my DAB functionality is useless here in Germany.

I have been trying to apply some logical thought here and it strikes me that the 2014 Jag XF has DAB+, and as far as I am aware uses the same headunit as the RRE. So my question is this, could one swap the DAB box in the boot for a Jag XF DAB+ box and thus receive DAB+??

Dan @ Duckworth are the parts compatable by anychance?

Open to all for thoughts......Question

You would have to go to the dealership to get a new unit programmed into the car and run the risk that the Evoque's systems would not recognise the new head unit. Do German spec cars get DAB+ fitted or do they only have AM/FM functionality llke you?

You couldn't make this up, but the German brochure says yo can order DAB and there is an asterix. Asterix refers you to the bottom of the page that says DAB system fitted doesn't work in Germany!

WTFLaughingLaughing Wanted to keep the original look so thought changing the receiver box could be a solution.

BFG,
Not true DAB does work in Germany, just the coverage is rubbish!

Granted, not the best looking solution, but probably a damn site cheaper

You could mount it in the boot utilising the socket there and a long AUX in cable, at least then you wouldn't see the guts of it

SP, The only broadcasts on the DAB bands are WDR, EinsLive and Bayern Rundfunk. If you want all the other stations (including my local station) then you need DAB+, which sadly is not fitted to the car
