Lookers Park Royal - mark_n - 02-11-2013 10:39am

Just been quoted £409 by Lookers for the second service for my Evoque, compared to £349 last year for the first service. Of that, £87.58 is for 6 litres of Shell Helix, so I may well supply my own.

It turns out their labour rate is an eye-watering £162/per hour which they intend to charge me for warranty work diagnosis if no problem is found. Currently, I have two intermittent issues - the front interior lights coming on randomly and "smart key not found" so I'm unlikely to get them fixed because the car is being moved on in a couple of months, hopefully.

The third warranty issue is the rails along the base of the door windows are still not fitting properly which are obvious to the most untrained eye...

In just the same way I was quoted £3800 by my Mercedes dealer to replace 4 rubber boots on my SL55, it seems LR quote these costs without blinking any eye, as if they are completely reasonable. Of course.

I think too many dealerships and brands have forgotten that there are still a few of us who have to fund our own maintenance and upkeep of our cars, it isn't being charged to a company fleet manager or leasing company account. I was also gobsmacked when I worked out the labour charges at LPR after my cars 2nd service - one thing for sure the staff at LPR won't be being paid that, they also won't be being paid the hourly rate that equates to that minus VAT.................. LPR aren't the only ones who charge excessively for labour either - I was quoted what worked out to £390 per hour recently to have my house roof de-mossed using a pressure washer and chemicals and the company told me I had to buy the cleaning fluid from them! My local Land Rover trained specialist charges £35/hour but they also don't valet your car, supply comfy seats in the non-existant waiting area, unlimited coffees in a plush showroom/ service reception or free loan cars. There is a cost to all of these things, they have to be recouped somehow and I suspect they get hidden in the hourly labour rates

If you buy a RRE now from Lookers do you get the 5yr Servicing package? That is if they still sell the RRE.

If so the Service deal would be the way to go, for new customers.

They sell plenty of RRE's there, I don't know about the fixed price service off er as I've never been offered it for my car as it's too old to qualify.

I have the interior lights coming on randomly as well and my Evoque is being serviced next week by an independent specialist with the cost being half of that quoted by Pentland. Just had the rear brakes done and it was confirmed that the specialist who replaced them believes that they had been binding for a "good part of their life", so much so that I gained an extra average 4mpg more in economy.

Cost to replace rear brakes, £88.50 , Pentland wanted £195 inc vat for the same thing.

I cannot wait until 4 years are up, this is one car and dealer network I will not miss.

Sorry, I did't mean to hijack the thread.

Well the owners of my supplying dealership have just bailed and the dealership has been consumed into the Lookers Group. I am promised I shall see no negative impact and may see some additional benefits. We shall see!

Yes, the service deal is a no brainer and a pity us early adopters couldn't get it. I've just bought the oil Lookers want to charge £87 for for £31.

As ChuckieB stated above:-
Chipperfield Land Rover is soon to be owned by the Lookers group.
As stated in a customer letter in circulation.
I too hope there are little changes.......

Lookers Group seems to have been buying up a tremendous number of dealerships recently. They bought up all the Audi dealerships in central Scotland in the summer along with a Land Rover dealership. There must be plenty of money out there for buying up companies.

...or struggling companies are going cheap?
