New Battery thread... - RacingSnake - 04-10-2013 07:03pm

They really are rubbish aren't they??

I've not had any issues since the battery dying last year.... until today.

Now, I fully acknowledge it will have been my fault. I spent about 2 hours wiring in a dashcam... in that 2 hours I didn't have the radio on, and the ignition probably had half a dozen cycles to test the power feed to the cameras (and interior lights were on).
But, even so, It gave me nothing, just the rapid clicking (again).

I got it going (eventually) with a jumper pack - so I assume it's a trip to the dealers to reset the battery monitor - but for what should have been very low use on the battery I absolutely did not expect it to fully die in 2 hours Sad. pos.

I noticed in the TSB about the cure for the TV problem that the first line reads to connect the car up to a back-up power supply!

How ironic!
Well, I will run it in tomorrow (assuming it starts), hopefully they can just reset the monitor while I wait - I'll ask about the TV fix at the same time, but not holding my breath on that!

If you've run your battery down more than once it may be history. Have your dealer run a load test.

RS, you should have called out LRA, they would have at least replaced the battery even if they couldn't reset the BMS. That was what they did for mine in February and Scannel's point was why they replaced my battery with a new type.

I was on the verge of LRA before it fired up.
Took it into the dealer today, reset it as I waited, no issues since - I'm hoping the 'quick discharge' didn't cause any irreparable damage to the battery itself...

On a similar note, they denied any fixes to the Radio crackling issue despite it being listed on topix.
