What Car? prefers any German to the ED4 .......... didn't need the mag to know they would come to that verdict they are so predictable with any BMW in any test. They mark the ED4 down for windnoise, distracting touch screen (??) and handling issues (they reckon it has poor front end grip). Strange they mark Evoque last as they claim that the A5 is tight in the back and a disappointing drive!

I have driven a couple of 2.0d F30 bmw 3 series. Found them utterly underwhelming, dreadful engines - although the 330d has the most fantastic engine, it suffered from a little wind noise (not as much as Evoque) and terrible tyre noise
Mind you, I wouldn't have any of those four! Would not get an Evoque without 4wd personally, v unlikely ever to have another Audi and wouldn't have a 4-cyl merc or bmw

They do rate the Evoque's engine as very smooth
