Scuffed Wheel - mark_n - 15-09-2013 04:41am I've managed to scuff a front wheel; I drove up on a kerb while doing a U-turn and the wheel slipped off, grinding the alloy in the process. Has anyone has their wheels refurbished and how successful was it? RE: Scuffed Wheel - jitenc - 15-09-2013 07:26am I have 3 of the scuffed alloys repaired under the tyre and wheel warranty. I must say that the job was done satisfactorily. I would recommend taking out this insurance for the peace of mind. I might think of renewing the insurance when it does run out. RE: Scuffed Wheel - XFullFatTim - 15-09-2013 07:48am I've had RRS wheels refurbed and the end result was so good you couldn't tell which one had been repaired. Mark, I hope yours are not Shadow Chromes though - if they are then the refurber will want to do all 4 to get a good match. I have one badly scuffed anthracite alloy on my Defender - rather than get all five wheels done I got the scuffed one done and now it hangs on the back door as the spare so I have 4 matching wheels on the car. In the case of having to get 5 wheels matched it may be cheaper just to replace the damaged wheel with a new one - of course Evoque owners don't all have the option of fitting the spare! RE: Scuffed Wheel - Rxa - 15-09-2013 09:23am I have the shadow chrome wheels and all 4 wheels have scuffed to some degree or other. I've got the tyre and wheel warranty as well. Do I need to book it in with the dealer or go to a specialist approved by the wheel insurance company? RE: Scuffed Wheel - CSJ - 15-09-2013 10:18am Had a wheel done in London and was very easy and successful RE: Scuffed Wheel - m_101 - 15-09-2013 01:34pm I too have last weekend managed to scuff both of my passenger side shadow chrome alloys Going to call the insurance people tomorrow and find out how to get them sorted. I'm hoping they don't need to refurb all 4 as I'm not sure when I would be able to get that done. Does anyone know how long that might take? RE: Scuffed Wheel - XFullFatTim - 15-09-2013 11:29pm Rxa, before you get any refurb done READ the policy documents - usually the dealership uses a 3rd Party Insurer for these things. Before going ahead take photos of the damage then email them to the insurer and ask for a claim form. DON'T just go to a refurb shop and book them in, the insurers often have favoured refurb shops RE: Scuffed Wheel - WB - 16-09-2013 04:12pm I've not used them myself but these folks have an excellent reputation and are used by two detailers I know -> http://www.lepsons.com RE: Scuffed Wheel - mark_n - 16-09-2013 06:32pm (16-09-2013 04:12pm)WB Wrote: I've not used them myself but these folks have an excellent reputation and are used by two detailers I know -> http://www.lepsons.com Thank you. I do not haven insurance and they are standard Type 6 20 inch wheels for a Dynamic. I'll take the wheel in to my normal tyre fitting place and see what they can do. |
