SD4 Manual Questions - iainm1970 - 10-02-2013 08:46pm Hello Interested in purchasing a five door Sd4 manual later in the year. I wonder if members could give their advice/share their experience on the following: At what spec do you get a heated windscreen? Can't see it on spec lists but have seen the button on some demo models. Nor can I see it on options lists so a mite confused! What mpg are people returning with the manual SD4? The auto figures are scary! We are keen caravanners ... how are members finding them for towing? Finally recommendations for a dealer in central Scotland? Those that I have visited have been less than interested and can't hold a candle to my current Skoda dealer. Thanks in advance. RE: SD4 Manual Questions - cjfp - 10-02-2013 09:02pm My man sd4 - 37/38 mpg In pure, heated screen is in tech pack. Std dynamic and prestige RE: SD4 Manual Questions - J77 - 10-02-2013 09:07pm Welcome, The SD4 manual is a good car, it will tow well but in an ideal world I would go for the auto. If you look through some of the threads you will find that all is not well with the fuel economy, with many of us not getting anywhere near LRs figures. As far as dealers are concerned I always go to Stratstone Cupar, I've bought four Land Rovers from them and always received excellent service, I know of one member that isn't to keen on them, If you call them ask for Alistair Mcbain he's a top guy. RE: SD4 Manual Questions - iainm1970 - 10-02-2013 09:16pm Thanks both. Called into Strathstone in Cupar in the past and received excellent attention, not exactly on our doorstep but we often weekend in Fife so not a deal breaker. RE: SD4 Manual Questions - stotty5 - 10-02-2013 11:50pm I've had my Dynamic SD4 manual since November 2012, I'm getting 35/36 mpg now and it seems to be getting slightly better after each full tank of fuel. I've done 4300 miles so far. That's about 410 miles for £70-£75 worth of diesel at £1.40 a litre! RE: SD4 Manual Questions - PhilSkill - 11-02-2013 09:45am Hi, I love the manual, it's a great gearbox, but if you're thinking it's better than the Auto for MPG, I don't think there's a great deal in it, most of it depends how you drive it and the type of driving you're doing, Mines only giving 34mpg now, I did have it up to 39mpg at one point, but I've been doing a lot more Motorway and that seems to kill the MPG unless you stay in the 50-60 region. Frankly it's a $WD so the economy is not there compared to a normal more streamline 2WD car. I saw an Evoque towing a trailer down the M40 Saturday. RE: SD4 Manual Questions - XFullFatTim - 11-02-2013 04:22pm Dealerships in Central Scotland - Pentland has a huge site out at the Newbridge Roadabout near the m9, not heard bad things about them on the forum. Then if you shot up to J9 on the M9 Bannockburn, follow the road into Stirling and just after the first mini-roundabout at CEF/ Ogilvy the builder, on the right is Morrisons Land Rover. I have brought my Land Rovers from them for many years, although the Evoque and my last RRS and FFRR came from Lookers Park Royal in west London, I still have my cars serviced at Morrisons. RE: SD4 Manual Questions - iainm1970 - 11-02-2013 07:33pm Thanks all ... mpg really isn't great is it, but there is always a compromise with any car. Pentland ... not impressed, knowledge of their product low and not that interested in selling cars. Will try Morrisons in Stirling. They have had the car for for 4 weeks and still can't find a cause. Take care! Surely this isn't an sd4 specific issue and could have occurred on any model ?! RE: SD4 Manual Questions - Ricvifarho - 11-02-2013 11:02pm Hi, SD4 Prestige has heated screen- brilliant invention! MPG: Summer tyres 36mpg, winter tyres 33mpg, mixed A and B road hill and glen driving. Not great for a 2.2 diesel but just about tolerable economy wise. Very happy with mine overall. So much fun to drive and supremely comfortable on a journey. |
