Picked up my SD4 4WD Auto with 20" rims and 245 tires (I also have the pano roof) last Friday.
- This week-end I did about 300 miles of which 30 in city centre and 100 towing my trailer. Consumption was 10L/100km (= 28,2 MPG Brittisch miles/gallon or 23,5 US miles/gallon). Taking into account city miles and towing of trailer this seems OK.
- Today I did my normal daily commute: 44 miles, about 10 city centre/traffic jams and the rest motorway. I must say that I am not an agressive driver and drive rather relaxed. Consumtion was 7,2 L/100KM (= 39,2 "Brittisch miles/gallon or 32,6 US miles/gallon), which is brilliant.
Not sure what MPG value you are using here, but for me anything below 8L/100KM (35 Brittisch miles/gallon or 29 US miles/gallon) is great.

Car has now done 22,000
Last few tanks have averaged 38.7 mpg , 39.1 mpg & 39 mpg
But I did get the fuel filter replaced a few weeks ago
So it is slowly getting better , just not much

Picked my SD4 up yesterday. 90 miles so far and averaged 38.5mpg on the way home from work today. That's pretty good I think for a new engine.

Last fill got 40.3 on the computer and 40.5 when calculated manually. Guess the warmer weather helping a bit.
Over the whole time I've had the car, now 24,000 miles, have averaged 38.7mpg
Godda be happy with that

Well mine averages 36mpg no matter how I drive it BUT ambient temperature sees to make a big difference to the SD4's economy. My car does much better when the outside air is between 11c and 17-18c than at the lower and higher ends.
What has stuck in most people's throats has been that LR hyped the car as being super economical when it isn't. My 3.6ltr V8 TD Range Rover Sport and then the Vogue with the same engine could get very nearly the same MPG as my Evoque - that's what we all whinge about. My previous Land Rovers/Range Rovers have always been able to achieve the official combined and often exceeded it, I struggle to get 40mpg, no where near the 49.9 combined cycle that is claimed

But as we all know. It's not JLR making these claims. It's the government system of measurement that doesn't work.
If you have a standardised system then it needs to be realistic. Alas like many government policies, its tosh!
Strange how the mpg achieved by similar cars can vary so much? Must be down to driver style and ability?

Managed 300km at 6.5l/100km (43mpg) on the way home a couple of weeks ago with my wife driving. The 600km before that was 7.4lt (40mpg) with me behind the wheel using CC. There was 3-4kph difference in average speed.
Around town it's 9.5-10lt (36-38mpg)
My bad - should be 26-28mpg for last one.

I know it's not the same car, but it's the principle
A friend has just traded in a 2.5 Z4 for a 320D estate, as she wanted something a bit more econmical.
The salesman told her 'around town you'll get 50-55 mpg, and on a run you'll get around 60'
So far (3000 miles) she is getting 55 for her daily 20 mile commute in mixed A & B roads, and 62 on a run
Can LR buy some BMW engines - their technology is far superior, and it does what it says on the tin !
