£6000 for a select amount of Paint finishes on the new Range Rover Shocked Blimey does it have gold flake in it? Can't for the life of me see how they can justify that.
Think they have got a nerve even charging £800 extra for the Premium Metallic like Barollo Black given the price of the car - taking the **** IMO.

That's one of the cheaper ones, there are a few at £8000, these however are only available on the autobiography.

You could take it to a very good body shop & get a full respray for about £4000 so how can they justify those prices when a car is being built at it's factory?
I had a new MG ZT-Tourer back in 2005 which had a Chromeactive Monogram Paint finish (Aurora) from the factory. This changed colours depending on the light shades etc & that was £2500 or slightly less & I thought that was nuts but £8000 Shocked

And I belive that if you want "any colour in the world sir" you pay £10k extra for the service - just like the old Autobiography service. Basically the original Autobiography was " you can have anything so long as you are prepared to pay". Your shiny new P38A RR was wheeled off the end of the production line completed, taken round to Special Vehicles Engineering and stripped down and resprayed and refitted with whatever spec you wanted........ for a while it was also available on the Defender and Freelander1 as well - it was to do what JE and Overfinch were doing but in house. They were very popular with gentlemen in the Middle East.

Chromaflair I guess a revised way of saying Chromeactive. Some of those colours look very similar to the MGR ones, probably come from the same place (Dupont I believe). MGR used to take the car off the production line within build & then it was hand painted/sprayed which I would have thaught is far more sensible & cost effective than building a car completely only to move it somewhere else & take it to pieces Confused

Ive seen with amg mercs they receive a completed car. Then take it apart. I walked around the performance studio and spotted many sls, gwagon getting the brandnew carpet getting pulled out for personal mods. Doesnt sound the best way to do it but they must have their reasons.

Holden sort of do the same thing with HSV in Australia, they make cars with some generic parts and some final production parts and then vehicles are shipped to HSV for 300 modifications to turn the standard family car into Australia's premier sports sedan. To give you an idea of what is done, standard unpainted bumpers are attached, normal brakes installed, hsv fluted front fenders and hsv interior installed at the manufacturing line, but then hsv strip the brakes, bumpers and even the engines out and do the rest.

Btw Porsche 918 spider blue paint upgrade is usd$68,000 !!!

I just love the number 1 spot which is a $300,000 option on the Bugatti Veyron - to NOT have paint!!!!!!!!

There was an unpainted Veyron open top in Jack Barkeley's show room in Barkeley Square when I walked passed....... looked awful and imagine keeping the finger print marks off it from all those people who have to touch your car!
