The Mayor Of St Helens New Car - THEMACS - 18-10-2012 09:20pm

The Local Mayor where we live always has a Red car with the registration CDJ1 it has always been a Jaguar XJ as far back as I can remember. The number plate goes back to the days where the Letters indicated where the car was registered and this designation was for St Helens. I am pretty sure that the car belongs to the local council.

Anyway, whilst driving into work today I saw CDJ1 and guess what, it is now on a Firenze Red 5 Door Prestige SD4! It has a little Coat of Arms on the side too!!

Guess its a cheaper option than a New XJ!!

Excellent colour choice...

Just as well it wasn't CJD1 then................ mad cow disease. As they have downsized from an XJ have they also made the Mayor drive him/herself around too - not that easy to get in an out of the back of a chauffeur driven Evoque when you have your mayoral clobber on

Especially if it's a Coupe.

Nope, still driven by a chauffer. It is a vehicle owne by the council, I guess he probably isn't even insured to drive it and it lives in a council lock up!!

Lucky St Helens residents. They get to pay for an Evoque, shame they will never get to drive it.
Also presumably it will only do occasional short local journies which will bugger up the DPF and fuel consumption

I have visions of the Mayor turning up at formal functions in his full civic attire and everyone standing around embarrassingly waiting for the powered seat to s-l-o-w-l-y move forward so he can heave himself out of the back, getting his gold chain caught in the seatbelt in the process.
