Protection from seatbelt dings - Urban Splash - 02-07-2012 07:09pm Hi all, I have read on here regarding dents, dings scratches etc to the centre console trim from clicking in the seatbelt. My first time in my actual car, wasn't watching what I was doing and I hit the aluminium trim with the clip. My wife did the same in the passenger seat. I appreciate all it takes is a bit of care, but, my solution....... It's just the plastic sticky labels you use to protect your precious mountain bike frame....kool. RE: Protection from seatbelt dings - DiscoDad - 02-07-2012 07:22pm Good tip! Thanks for sharing. RE: Protection from seatbelt dings - XFullFatTim - 02-07-2012 07:23pm Great idea Splash, I have some larger sized strips of clear carbon Kevlar that is supplied by the makers of my windsurfer sails so will apply some of that, it s a similar thickness but is a roll about 50cm x 100 so I should be able to fit it without there being a visible edge RE: Protection from seatbelt dings - Urban Splash - 02-07-2012 07:35pm (02-07-2012 07:23pm)XFullFatTim Wrote: Great idea Splash, I have some larger sized strips of clear carbon Kevlar that is supplied by the makers of my windsurfer sails so will apply some of that, it s a similar thickness but is a roll about 50cm x 100 so I should be able to fit it without there being a visible edge That will look really neat...... RE: Protection from seatbelt dings - WB - 02-07-2012 08:00pm Great idea! - it's called helicopter tape I think - made by 3M RE: Protection from seatbelt dings - ED209 - 02-07-2012 08:01pm (02-07-2012 08:00pm)WB Wrote: Great idea! - it's called helicopter tape I think - made by 3M Thats the stuff, got it stuck all over my mountain bike. RE: Protection from seatbelt dings - XFullFatTim - 02-07-2012 08:33pm I think you can get packs of something similar from good auto-parts places (and Halfords!) called Ventureshield, it's meant for protection exterior panels from scratches and dings RE: Protection from seatbelt dings - WB - 02-07-2012 09:58pm (02-07-2012 08:33pm)XFullFatTim Wrote: I think you can get packs of something similar from good auto-parts places (and Halfords!) called Ventureshield, it's meant for protection exterior panels from scratches and dings They sell helicopter tape on ebay - about £6 or £7 for 1 metre but need to check what width is required RE: Protection from seatbelt dings - Barneyridge - 05-07-2012 03:41am (02-07-2012 08:01pm)ED209 Wrote: Thats the stuff, got it stuck all over my mountain bike. Thanks...I am going to get some for my mountain bike now RE: Protection from seatbelt dings - IKM - 10-07-2012 08:25pm Thanks, great posts. Just ordered some helicopter tape (had never heard of it before). I was also at my dealer today and noticed that the new Evoque Dynamic in the showroom already had a new protective "film" finish over the aluminium centre console (a sort of dotted pattern layer). Looked good. Wish they had done so on earlier cars. |
