Because if you use the electronic aids properly LR believe you don't need anything else. I run winter tyres to preserve my 20's and the wheels from damage driving through frozen snow/slush but actually they are pretty good on very wet roads in the summer too as I found out 3 years ago driving my RRS on 19" winter tyres in July when I drove to London in a near continuous tropical type down pour for 8 hours - they were fantastic at clearing water, but not so great for the cars behind lost in all the spray they created!

Has anyone tried the 20" summer tyres in the snow ?

I drove the M6 and M74 on 20" summer tyres in 6" of fresh snow on 22nd December 2009 (I was in Basingstoke the day before when I wasn't cut off from the rest of the country but Basingstoke was!), with GG&S setting on the TR was able to keep up with the Disco3's and FFRR's still driving at 50-60mph when all the X5's, X3's, Q7's Cayennes etc on their fancy race car tyres and wheels were being dragged to the hard shoulder by police driving D3's, Defenders and FFRR's

I am really pleased at the combination

Mine came with Pirelli M&S Tyres on the standard 18 inch rims and so far I have been really impressed, now completed 13000 miles and they are also wearing really wellVery Happy

I had no problem whatsoever in February this year when there was gridlock from the Midlands back to the North East - in Stoke town centre I came across an X5 which just couldn;t manage an ice and snow covered incline - my Pure with 20in. Michelins powered past him without missing a beatCool

That sounds great , did you use the terrain response buttons ?

I had the snow setting mode on but nothing else, to be honest I still don't have a clue how most of the settings work but what I do know is that the RRE is a fantastic car in arctic conditions, the number of stranded cars that I came across that night was unbelievable.
