This may be a really dumb question and I might be missing something completely. But, I am unable to send personal messages? Is there any reason why I may not be able to do that? I joined this forum a couple of weeks ago.

You need to make 5 posts to be able to use PMs. Go off and post smileys in a couple of threads and that will get you up to 5 posts.
