I've heard (from a very good source) that the Halewood site has a production line that originally built Mondeos in the Ford ownership era and that this has been re-tooled to build Evoque only and will be coming on-line shortly.

The current line builds Freelander and Evoque concurrently I believe?

Apparently this new production line is the reason that LR factory reps were telling the dealers at the end of last year that January orders would get delivered towards the end of April - though that seems to be slipping a bit now.

Can anyone confirm that there is a 2nd production line coming on-stream?

Would be surprised. The factory built the x type (mondeo in disguise) and the original freelander. When the x type was "retired" this space was used by the RRE, hence why you can have FL2 or RRE in any order going down the line. The Mk2/facelifted Sierra saw all production of a Mondeo sized car switched from UK to Belgium and from when the Mondeo was first launched it has only ever been built at Genk (and SMAX/current Galaxy). The last proper Ford in Halewood was the Mk5 Escort.Confused:Confused:

Only Freelander2 of the LR line was ever built at Halewood, it only built Xtypes before the introduction of Freelander2 and after the Mk5 Escort

Looked for a more appropriate thread to post this info in, but ended up here.

Was at dealer today getting the FL2 serviced and he said that if I ordered an Evoque today then they are quoting 10 - 12 months !!

Yep that was what James and Matt at LPR quoted me in December when I thought I might have to change from a coupe to a 5 door. I think I would have swapped out completely for a D4 HSE if it had come to the crunch, but fortunately my father recovered enough to be given back his driving licence!
