Petrol 240 hp or Diesel 190 hp? - Dmitry - 30-05-2011 09:40am

Dear All,

Here in Russia we have not seen the car live and are forced to deposit ASAP, as only 600 cars will be shipped to Russia this year.

I am currently driving Mazda CX-7 and it consumes 20 l petrol per 100 km, which is a lot. 190 Hp diesel engine in Evoque sounds like a fair replacement, not losing much in hp.
I hope Europe has got its hands on the first cars already.
Any f those, who have tried the car or seen it on the drive, can you please share your experience on the diesel engine:

- performance
- whether the diesel sound is heard inside the car
- any details on cold start (we have up to minus 30C here in Russia)

Thanks a lot.

Hi Dmitry, welcome to the forum.

I'm sure we would all love to be able to answer your questions, unfortunately I do not think that any of us have driven this car yet, or even heard one with the engine running. I think it will be another couple of months before we get to that stage so you will just have to join us and take a huge leap of faith and give your dealer the deposit. Smile

The 2.2l diesel is currently used in the Freelander; can anyone comment on its performance, noise, cold start for Dmitry?

in the freelander 2 isnt the old version the TD4?

I thoutght this motor was a brand new one used in the facelift Jaguar xf and Evoque

I have a freelander2 with 2.2 diesel without the particulate filter. It's a superbe engine. With the particulate filter you miss 9 HP and.... you really miss that extra HP. So either you go for 190HP Diesel, but I preferred the SI4 because it is much cheaper than the Diesel in Holland.

So you mean that the 150 hp td4 is too weak?

Evoque has DPF, like all new cars since last year have to have in Europe as part of the Euro4 emissions controls - don't know about further away though. I would have thought the problem with diesel over gasoline in Russia would be getting ultra-low sulpher diesel of good enough quality, whereas gasoline is easier to find
