Had to replace a Xenon headlamp Ballast today, it's not a job for the faint hearted!

thats a silly amount of work to replace a bulb or balast unit, i recon a design fault. also a major job to replace rear fog light,
no access to the fixings.

No its crazy, I think the headlight was designed to slide out forwards but the designer didnt allow for the depth of the unit or shape of the bumper, the bulkhead actually causes it not to rotate out too, maybe it extended for crash tests and impeded the light removal.

They didnt learn from Volvo or Ford where the units drop out after removal of a single clip and screw.

Guess its the compromise for the looks!

Hi Phil. I'm a new member and would love one of your boot closing units. Can you email me as I can't PM.

Thanks

Hi r12345a, You need to make 5+ posts, then you can use PM, can't find a way e-mail you either so guess it's the same.

Long journey back down the East coast and after 6 hours driving, reaching end of my journey I got the dreaded Restricted Performance just as I got onto the M1 Sad

Reset has cleared it so far, done a few short town trips and no warning so far.

Over 40mpg though and only half a tank used!

If you add an email address to your profile then it will link from your posts, anyone can email you but they cannot see your email address

Well the warning was back Sad so I tried calling my dealer who just said call LRA, well I don't have that anymore so instead called my current breakdown assist, who connected up the diagnostic unit, revved it, and immediately showed me the fault code "DPF Pressure Sensor Intermittent Fault" did a few other checks and said the DPF didn't seem blocked, and recommended a Land Rover Specialist just 5 miles from home to change the Sensor and said he's sees this a lot on these and the Freelander. Seem like a great bunch of guys, had stacks of Sports and FF RR's in for repair, so Car is there awaiting a new sensor.

So with any luck I might have found a better place for servicing/repairs in the future! Just wish this had been changed under recall or during regular servicing, rather than out of my pocket given how it's a known fault and obviously only a matter of time before it fails, and leaves you restricted to use it, thankfully I was so close to home given the very long journey when it failed.

All repaired in 1 working day, new DPF Pipe with Sensor and feels like it goes like a rocket again! Very Happy

Phil,

Could you let me know how much this sensor costs please.
It would be nice to know if the same fault happens to me, as our cars are the same age.
