LandRover insurance problems - Beware - ytshome - 16-09-2011 02:48pm Hi everyone, just thought that it was worth sharing my experiences with the company that operates LandRover and Jaguar Insurance and to mention some of the problems that I've had with mine. Firstly, I had been with the same company for many years without a single issue; that was until I purchased a new Diesel S Portfolio in November 2010. I went onto the Jag website and followed their link for approved insurance (which is the identical one to LandRover) and was given a policy. No problems initially but after six months I had only covered 1500 miles in the jag and decided to sell. I rang the company to tell them of my intentions and asked them (as I'd paid £500.00 up-front for my insurance) what I would get back and they told me that I would get £25.00. After I'd stopped laughing I asked them to instead keep the policy going but to swap it onto my wife's golf (which we use to visit our horse and so get rather s**t up) and they told me that if they covered that I would actually get the cover and a refund of £70.00. Anyway a long story short we took out the change of insurance (cost £25.00 per amendment) and two and a half months later came to tax the golf online and it told me that my car wasn't insured and so couldn't do this. I then contacted a number of people at customer services who genuinely gave me none and left me in a position that whilst they would apologise they left me with an unisured car blaming the under-writer. After several heated exchanges i spoke with the MD (Tim) who again apologised and placed me on a temporary cover note and promised his company would resolve and contact me within 48 hours. No contact was received and in fact since the 25th August until today, I've made more than a dozen calls, been promised that the matter will be resolved and promised a return call that never materialised on eight separate occasions. Today, I again waited for a call that never happened and after being hung up on, transferred to erroneous extentions and trying to spek to Jaguar UK (who don't wan't to know neither) I was eventually told that there was only one person available to answer calls and he was on lunch. What made it worse was that there best quote to insure my Evoque was £270 dearer than my Jag, which was 8 insurance groups higher than the Evoque and it was £103.00 more expensive than I could get on LR site myself and almost £400 dearer with £150 more excess than the cheapest compare the market quote Sorry about the rant but anyone thinking of going there for a premium product approved by JLR, don't be fooled. I only dread to think how much worse they'd have been if a claim was involved? RE: LandRover insurance problems - Beware - EVO PUNDITT - 16-09-2011 03:19pm Thanks for the info mate , I shall be staying clear of them RE: LandRover insurance problems - Beware - XFullFatTim - 16-09-2011 03:34pm The current supplier of Land Rover insurance since 2009 has been Stratstone's parent company - previously Land Rover Insurance was done through Royal and Sun Alliance and they still cover both my land Rovers under the same terms as when they were called Land Rover Insurance. This year RSA changed underwriters and now I have been informed that my cover is provided through RSA by Zenith, no change in premium (yet), and I am paying only £200pa for the Evoque. The insurance world is surely a mysterious one! RE: LandRover insurance problems - Beware - ytshome - 16-09-2011 04:49pm Hi Tim, I agree. Unfortunately, Landrover deal with a different company now, run by Original Insurance and to be frank they are crap. Your price is a belter. I'm 51, been driving 30 years without a fault claim, never had a point and live in a quiet area in Cheshire. Compare the market quote for protected NCB and £200 excess is £380.00. LandRover was £767.00 with £350.00 excess. That said, the price isn't the real issue, it's the service, everyone from the MD down (excluding two decent men who tried to help) have been honestly dreadful. It's a pity as a new Stratstone customer I couldn't get in on the old scheme but these things happen. RE: LandRover insurance problems - Beware - XFullFatTim - 16-09-2011 05:00pm Sure is, because the other thing the old RSA scheme included was off road use and recovery. Usually these cost a fortune if you ask a non specialist to give you cover, even through brokers off road use can be very expensive. I'm 3 years older than you with similar driver profile but del out in the sticks of Central Scotland, but post code is a city with a poor record! It will be interesting to see what my next quote will be like next year - I am preparing for a major hike though. RE: LandRover insurance problems - Beware - Onebigjobby - 16-09-2011 06:18pm Any hassle from any insuance company then contact the insurance ombudsman, insurance companies really do not like them getting involved, usually a threat of them gets your problem sorted. They kick arse when u need them too, so use them. Thanks for that, I used to be involved in a company that owned a motor insurance brokerage company. The Ombudsman forms are already printed out as is my two and a half page summation of what's occured (send a pm if you'd like to see it). They came back at tonight to say as a gesture of good will that there would be no charge for my car insurance from June of this year. I had to remind them that I'd already paid it in full. Later they offered £150.00 off a new policy but I really couldn't stomach it. Have gone back to my original insurers at £760.00 just for the peace of mind. YT RE: LandRover insurance problems - Beware - ytshome - 17-09-2011 03:23pm Sorry, forgot to say that each time you amend your policy you will be charged £25.00. I asked for a change of car and to include an additional driver and was charged twice. |
