Any of you guys familiar with this? How does it work?

Yes I have it, it is lifted straight from Volvo and has Volvo stamped on the parts! Not sure where the sensors are for it (somewhere on the wing mirror but unless it is one of the cams, I can see any sensor) but it works well. HOWEVER, I haven't found the rear quarters blindspot a problem because the mirrors are so huge.

I'm not 100% sure but during the dealer launch, I was sitting in the back and orange lights kept coming on in the door mirrors. This was activated by people walking behind the car, activating the blind spot monitor.
So I would imagine, when a car overtakes you and moves from behind you and to the right hand side, it will activate the orange light in the drivers door mirror which will warn you that there is a vehicle there so you don't pull out in it's path.
The reverse would be true for LHD.

So it gives you an audible/visual warning? or both? if you have pics or vids on it, even better. I dont think i seen any Youtube vids on the BSM system yet...

I think I know how the sensors work, Tim. The door mirrors have one way glass so they are clear from the inside. Volvo developed a very clever way of training a special breed of Swedish mouse, that are trained to look out of the one way mirror and when they see a car or truck coming at them, they activate a microswitch with their paws, which lights up an orange light. This is the warning light you can see in the mirror. Once the mouse can no longer see a car in it's field of vision, it gets bored and takes its paw off the microswitch, thus extinguishing the warning light.
It has proved about 99% efficient. The mice get replaced at each service interval as their lifespan isn't too great, I'm told.
Don't forget to put the mouse feed into the top of each mirror, once a week though, otherwise the "system" could fail prematurely. I think it's in section 5 of the owners manual. Tim can you confirm?

I believe the Coupe front seats are driven by a little known species of South American Sloth, called a "Gettinwetwaitin".

The Prestige I test drove on Sunday had blind spot monitoring. If the system has got an audible warning, it was either switched off or broken!

No there's no audible warning, just an icon showing 2 cars passing that illuminates, it can be fooled though by pedestrians and heavy rain!
